Pressure Washing vs. Soft Washing
Both pressure washing and soft washing are methods of cleaning that can be done with a pressure washer, but there are a few very distinct differences in how they're performed and what surfaces they work best for:
- Pressure washing is a high pressure wash, typically around 2000 PSI, best for harder surfaces such as wooden decking and stone pathways. Most of the time, only water is needed to pressure wash a surface, but an eco-friendly chemical solution may be used whenever necessary.
- Soft washing is a low pressure wash, less than 500 PSI, best for softer or more delicate surfaces such as roofing or vinyl siding. Soft washing almost always forgoes water in favor of a gentle chemical solution to thoroughly clean these surfaces and avoid any damage to the materials.
There's also power washing, which is another high pressure cleaning method that utilizes hot water to sanitize and clean the hardest surfaces like concrete.
